Women's Bible Study Group

The Women's Bible Study Group is open to all women in the parish family. This vibrant, animated group meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday evening to discuss a book or topic with biblical implications. In the past we have discussed the novel The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, studied Rembrandt's religious etchings, learned how icons are "written," studied various Christian denominations, and most recently debated Orson Scott Card's interpretation of the life of Moses in his book, Stone Tables.

We generally begin our year with a potluck supper at the rectory, where we select our reading material or topic for the year, and end our study with a culminating activity—the group has traveled to museums, attended the theater to view one of Richmond's Acts of Faith plays, and visited a local artist to watch her create icons firsthand.

We generally adapt our schedule around the Christmas and Lenten holidays, and the dynamics and size of the group often changes with our current topic. We end our meetings with Compline, the final prayers of the day. This is a very relaxed group, we encourage discussion, and we welcome new members!
